Kingston has just announced their latest Kingston UV500 SSDs. The UV500 line of SSDs features drives in nearly every form factor known, including the antiquated mSATA. These are Kingston’s first 3D NAND-enabled SSD with full-disk encryption.

The Kingston UV500 is powered by the Marvell 88SS1074, which is also featured in the SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD we are giving away, and the WD Blue 3D NAND SSD 1TB we recently reviewed. The drive is considerably slow for a recent SSD, with read speeds ranging up to 520MB/s, and write speeds of 500MB/s. For those who want to use the Kingston UV500 to store sensitive data, there is 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption and TCG Opal 2.0 support.

The Kingston UV500’s wide array of form factors and capacities ranging up to 1920GB allows everyone and their moms to find the perfect Kingston UV500 for them. These SSDs are covered by a 5-year warranty.

Pokdepinion: These looks like interesting drives, but of course, competitiveness would depend a lot on pricing. Kingston’s UV series of SSDs are quite affordable in the past, so they might make a great option for system builders.
