AMD ReSX accelerates performance in eSports titles — up to 11% performance improvement in PUBG!

AMD’s products are often lovingly labeled fine wine by their die-hard fanboys. It’s probably for a reason, because like fine wine, they actually improve over time. The latest project by Radeon Software group, known as Project ReSX has brought performance improvements to popular eSports titles. ReSX’s (Radeon eSports Experience) goal was to optimize the performance in some of the most popular PC games on Radeon GPUs, and it seems they have succeeded.

Radeon Software 18.3.1 incorporates the changes made possible by Project ReSX. On an AMD Radeon RX 580, we are seeing up to 11% frame rate improvements in PUBG at 1080p Ultra settings. Dota 2 and Overwatch see less impressive gains of 6% and 3%, respectively.

However AMD claims that they want to improve the experience, not just give you a nice fancy frames-per-second number. They have worked on improving the 99th percentile frame time, which is one of the main factors contributing to the smoothness of your gameplay. It has been improved by up to 7% in Dota 2 and up to 9% in PUBG. Once again, Overwatch sees the smallest gain at just 3%. It must be noted that these improvements are literally free, as they are offered via a driver update.

Project ReSX has also managed to lower input lag in popular titles. For some reason AMD didn’t post any improvements in PUBG, but we are looking at 4% quicker response in Overwatch and 8% in Dota 2. Any gamer knows that input lag can make or break the experience, so we are happy to see AMD has posted some improvements in this area.

Radeon Software 18.3.1, the latest update to Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition brings these features and more to your AMD Radeon-powered rig. Download it here.

Pokdepinion: I wonder if Vega GPUs see similar gains, or is Vega just too overkill for eSport titles to see any difference?
