Just a few hours ago, the Acer Global Press Conference New York 2018 took place and it introduced a slew of new products. These new products are catered to gaming, business, and consumers. Yes, this means that there’s something here for virtually everyone. Let’s take this one step at a time, shall we?

Acer Predator Orion Gaming Desktops

Acer Predator Orion 5000 Series

These New Acer Products Are Amazing

The Acer Predator Orion 5000 gaming desktop is powered by up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8700K processors on the Intel Z370 chipset, with up to 32GBs of Intel Optane memory for improved load times and responsiveness. You can even have up to 2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in SLI for the best visual clarity and VR experience.

The Predator Orion 5000 has a transparent side panel to show off its internal components, and is EMI-cpliant to protect users and peripherals from potential electromagnetic interference. It even has an easy-open side panels so you can swap out components and cables with ease. Other features included are Killer LAN high-speed ethernet, audio headset cradles, and a carry-handle for added convenience in bringing the machine around.

The Predator Orion 5000 gaming desktops will be available in North America in July starting at USD $1,499; in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in June 2018 starting at €1,699; and in China in June 2018 starting at ¥15,999.

Acer Predator Orion 3000 Series

Acer also introduced the little brother, the Orion 3000 Series gaming desktops, which is powered with up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processors and GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards. You can even have up to 32GBs of Intel Optane memory and up to 64GBs of DDR4 RAM at 2666MHz.

Just like the bigger brother, the Orion 3000 series also has transparent EMI-compliant side panel 1 , RGB lighting, sleek lines, blue accents and built-in headset cradles.

The Predator Orion 3000 gaming desktops on the other hand will be available in North America in October 2018 starting at USD $999; in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in July starting at €1,299; and in China in July starting at ¥6,999.

For both machines, local / Malaysian pricing and availability has yet to be announced.

The Ultralight Acer Swift 5 Notebook

For those of you looking for a portable, yet powerful machine, this might just be the one you’re looking for. The new Acer Swift 5 notebook has a 15-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen display and weighs in at only 0.97 kg, which is made possible thanks to its ultra-light magnesium-lithium alloy body. With its 5.87 mm ultra-narrow bezels, it effectively has a 87.6% screen-to-body ratio to maximize viewing experience.

The Swift 5 features Acer Color Intelligence technology dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation in real-time, optimizing screen colour and brightness without clipping or over-saturation, while Acer BluelightShield technology allows adjusting of the screen’s blue-light emission over extended periods of use.

It is powered by up to the 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and you have the choice of having up to 1TB SSD and 16GB DDR4 RAM. It is also expected to have a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port, 2 USB 3.1 Type-A ports, HDMI port, SD Card reader, and a fingerprint scanner that supports Windows Hello. As for networking, it utilizes the Intel Wireless-AC 9560 with 2×2 802.11ac wireless Gigabit performance.

The exact specifications, pricing, and availability hasn’t been announced, and we are expected to have more solid information on that in the near future.

Unlike the other machines, this one right here is a beast in performance. The Acer Predator Helios 500 gaming laptop is powered by up to 8th Gen Intel Core i9 CPU, and has upgraded specifications from its previous iteration. This time around, it has a distinctive white chassis which makes it quite a beauty.

Aside from the CPU, it has an overclockable GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, Intel Optane memory, NVMe PCIe SSD, Killer DoubleShot Pro networking, and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM. As for the display, you have the option of having either a 4K UHD or Full HD 17.3-inch 144Hz G-Sync-capable IPS display.

The Predator Helios 500 gaming laptop is expected to have 4-zone RGB keyboard with anti-ghosting, Acer PredatorSense, dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 speakers, a subwoofer, Acer TrueHarmony and Waves MAXXAudio technology. For cooling, the Acer AeroBlade 3D metal fans and 5 heat pipes is said to distribute cool air inside while also dispelling hot air from itself.

The Predator Helios 500 gaming notebooks will be available in North America in June 2018 starting at USD $1,999; in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in May 2018 starting at €1,999; and in China in June 2018 starting at ¥15,999. Local / Malaysian pricing and availability has yet to be announced.

Acer Predator Helios 300 Special Edition

For the more budget-conscious crowd, we have the Acer Predator Helios 300 Special Edition, featuring an all-white aluminum chassis with gold trim. It has an upgraded 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with 144Hz refresh rate, and is powered by up to an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, overclockable GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GBs NVMe SSD, and up to 2TB HDD storage.

This one also utilizes Intel Optane memory for improved loading times and responsiveness. For networking, it utilizes the Intel Wireless-AC 9560 that delivers up to 1.73Gbps throughput when using 160 MHz channels (2×2 802.11ac, dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz).

The Predator Helios 300 Special Edition includes 2 of Acer’s ultrathin (0.1mm) all-metal AeroBlade 3D fans which helps the system remain cool and free of thermal throttling. Via the PredatorSense app, you can use 3 different modes of cooling:

  1. Coolboost Mode – For gaming, rendering, streaming, and other heavy tasks
  2. Normal Mode – For productivity tools such as Microsoft Office
  3. Silent Mode – For simple tasks such as web browsing and online chatting

Acer Premium Chromebooks for Business

The all-aluminum design Acer Chromebook Spin 13 and Acer Chromebook 13 features a 13.5-inch Full HD+ IPS display with 178-degree viewing angles. The 3:2 aspect ratio is said to give 18% more vertical space compared to a regular 16:9 display. Another feature that both chromebooks share is the Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad which provides smooth navigation, and dual microphones for better audio clarity.

Both machines are expected to have USB 3.1 Type-C ports on each side, a USB 3.0 port, and a MicroSD Card Reader. Both models will also have dual slot-antennae to provide fast and reliable 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth 4.2. Both machines will also support Android apps without issues via Google Play.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 13 is powered by up to an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U with up to 16GBs of LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB of on-board eMMC storage. It is said to have up to 10 hours of battery life per full charge.

The 360-degree hinge on the Acer Chromebook Spin 13 coupled with a touchscreen display enables it to be used as a laptop and a tablet, making it a versatile machine. The included Wacom EMR stylus lets customers sketch, take notes, capture ideas, and interact
with programs and apps with precision. You can easily store the stylus in the Chromebook Spin 13’s storage slot for easy access.

Acer Chromebook 13

The Acer Chromebook 13 is powered by up to an 8th Gen Intel Core i3-8130U with up to 16GBs of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GBs of eMMC storage.

Acer’s Big Screen Chromebooks

Acer Chromebook Spin 15: The Industry’s 1st 15-inch Convertible Chromebook

One of the more interesting machines to be introduced at the Acer Global Press Conference New York 2018, the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 is the industry’s first 360-degree convertible Chromebook to sport a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen display. Yes, this means that it is a versatile machine that can be used as a laptop or tablet.

It is powered by up to the quad-core Intel Pentium N4200 CPU with up to 8GBs of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB on on-board eMMC storage. Because of this and the fanless design, it is said to be capable of up to 13 hours of battery life per full charge while also running quietly. For wireless, it utilizes the 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. It is expected to have 2 USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, and a MicroSD Card Reader.

It is said to have support for up to 10 fingers for the touchscreen, and is complemented by 2 full-sized upward-facing speakers for a better audio experience. It also has a large Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad for smooth navigation. This machine weighs in about 2.1kg, making it a bit heavy compared to the other machines that Acer introduced.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 (CP315-1H) will be available in North America in July 2018 starting at USD $449; and in EMEA in June 2018 starting at €449.

Acer Chromebook 15: Value-Oriented Chromebook 15 Model

Another entry in the 15 series of Chromebooks, the Acer Chromebook 15 offers a 15.6-inch Full HD display but minus the touchscreen capabilities. This one is powered by up to the quad-core Intel Celeron N3450 CPU with up to 8GB LPDDR4 dual-channel RAM and 64GB of on-board eMMC storage.

For wireless, it utilizes the Intel Wireless-AC 7265 (802.11ac 2×2 MIMO) Wi-Fi. It is expected to have 2 USB 3.1 Type-C ports and USB 3.0 ports. Just like the Chromebook Spin 15, it also has the 2 full-sized upward-facing speakers.

Both machines will also support Android apps without issues via Google Play.

The Acer Chromebook 15 (CB315-1H/1HT) will be available in North America in July 2018 starting at USD $349; and in EMEA in June 2018 starting at €399.

For both machines, local / Malaysian pricing and availability has yet to be announced.

Acer Nitro Series Desktops and Monitors

Acer Nitro 50 Series Desktop PCs

First up, we have the Acer Nitro 50 Series desktops, which are powered by up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processors and equipped with up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards. It also has a 3TB HDD and 512GB SSD as storage options, giving the PC 4K capabilities and quite a bit of power packed under the hood.

For added convenience, a wireless charging deck so you can keep your Qi-enabled wireless devices easily charged. The Realtek Dragon LAN is said to optimize network speed for gaming, internet browsing, and streaming, which makes this a great machine for a wide variety of users.

The Acer Nitro 50 gaming desktops will be available in North America in July 2018 starting at USD $799; in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in May 2018 starting at €999; and in China in July 2018 starting at ¥5,999. Local / Malaysian pricing and availability has yet to be announced.

Acer Nitro VG0 and RG0 Series Monitors

The Acer Nitro VG0 series is available with 27-, 23.8- and 21.5-inch panels delivering true-to-life color, and resolutions of 4K UHD, WQHD or Full HD. The ultra-thin Acer Nitro RG0 series on the other hand boasts a sleek .27-inch thin profile and is offered in 27 and 23.8-inch models.

These AMD Freesync-capable monitors is said to have blazing fast response time, up to 1ms, thanks to the Visual Response Boost (VRB) feature, and is said to have up 144Hz refresh rates. Integrated 6-axis color adjustment lets gamers fine-tune color, hue and saturation to best suit the game at hand, while built-in black boost enables gamers to select from 11 black level options to optimize visual advantage and clearly spot enemies, duck for cover, or navigate curves on a race track.

The IPS panels on these provide great viewing angles of up to 178 degrees horizontal and vertical. The monitors can even tilte from -5 degrees to 20 degrees (-5 to 15 for RG0 series), and meets the 72% NTSC standard. For the sake of optimizing visuals, the Acer Game Mode allows you to use the pre-set display modes that will be suitable for a wide variety of uses such as gaming, movies, and sports.

To ensure that virtually everyone can enjoy these new monitors, the Acer VisionCare feature has Flickerless, BlueLightShield, ComfyView, and low-dimming technologies for maximum comfort. You can also use wall mounts thanks to the VESA mount outfitted on it, and the ZeroFrame design will allow users for a near-seamless multi-monitor setup. Both monitor series will have two 2W stereo speakers, and support HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort.

The Acer Nitro VG0 gaming monitors will be available in North America in June 2018 starting at USD $129.99; in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in May 2018 starting at €129; and in China in May starting at ¥999. The Acer Nitro RG0 gaming monitors will be available in North America in July 2018 starting at USD $169.99; and in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in May starting at €139.
