Stephanie

 

Stephanie Ting is a freelance graphic designer based in Kuala Lumpur. She has earned a Bachelor’s of Studio Arts Degree in California, USA, and a Master’s of Commercial Design Degree in Taiwan. Stephanie has worked in as a graphic designer for over 7 years in China, Taiwan and Malaysia, for e-commerce clients of Alibaba and for other NGOs. She enjoys drawing, traveling, and baking. Film censorship is the practice of censoring of films before it is publicly screened. If a film does not meet the requirements set by the Film Censorship Board, the producer will be asked to cut the film, even if it means changing the story lines of what the directors and writers intended originally. Do you support film censorship, or freedom of expression for directors and writers?

This is an illustration of how our mentality of culture, race, or external enforced laws and rules which we grew up abiding by, may have an unconscious impact on the way we think and the things we are free to express out loud. The person on the right may be told that he is free to express his thinking, but what others often missed is the restrains of his thinking which he cannot tell you.
#02 FREE TO EXPRESS
Even though the Malaysian Government declared commitment to press freedom, stating “freedom of the press must be in line with the principles of truth and justice.”, journalists who are doing their job to cover controversial stories feel threatened by the police investigation under the Sedition Act, Defamation Act, Communication and Multimedia Acts, and Penal Code because it comes with possible jail terms. Is press freedom diminishing in our country?
